Refrain ("the App") is an iOS application developed and operated by Sullivan Collomb, a sole proprietor based in Lyon, France ("we", "us", or "our").

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Refrain. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data with transparency and respect.

By downloading or using Refrain, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

Your creative content
All songs, poems, sections, and text you write in Refrain are stored locally on your device only, using a local database (Hive). We do not have access to your creative content. It never leaves your device unless you choose to share it yourself.

Your preferences
App settings such as your chosen theme (light/dark), editor font, and display preferences are stored locally on your device only.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

Purchase and subscription information
If you purchase a Refrain Pro subscription or lifetime access, your transaction is processed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat, a third-party service, to manage and verify your purchases. RevenueCat may collect:

• A randomized user identifier
• Your purchase history within the App
• Your subscription status

During your 14-day free trial period, no payment information is collected. RevenueCat records the trial start date and status to manage the transition to a paid subscription.

RevenueCat does not collect your name, email address, or payment details. Those are handled exclusively by Apple.

Rhyme search queries
When you use the rhyme finder feature, your search queries are sent to the Datamuse API (api.datamuse.com) to retrieve rhyming words. These queries contain only the word or phrase you are looking for — never your full lyrics or any personal information.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect:

• Your name or email address
• Your location
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Usage analytics or behavioral data
• Crash reports
• Any content you write in the App

Advertising Identifier (IDFA)
We do not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA). RevenueCat may use the Identifier for Vendor (IDFV), a non-advertising identifier that cannot be used to track you across apps from other developers.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the limited information collected solely to:

• Verify and restore your Refrain Pro purchases across devices
• Provide the rhyme finder feature via the Datamuse API
• Maintain and improve the App

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose beyond operating the App.

All your creative content (songs, poems, notes) is stored exclusively on your device using a local database. We have no access to this data and it is never transmitted to our servers.

We do not operate any servers or cloud storage for user content.

Your purchase information is stored securely by RevenueCat on their servers, protected by industry-standard security measures.

6. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Right of access: you can request information about the data we hold about you
• Right to erasure: you can request deletion of your data
• Right to portability: you can request a copy of your data
• Right to object: you can object to the processing of your data
• Right to rectification: you can request correction of inaccurate data

Since we do not collect personal data directly, most of these rights apply to data held by RevenueCat. You can contact RevenueCat directly at privacy@revenuecat.com to exercise these rights regarding your purchase data.

7. Data Retention

Local data: your creative content remains on your device until you delete the App or the content manually.

Purchase data: RevenueCat retains purchase records as long as necessary to manage your subscription and comply with legal obligations.

Rhyme queries: Datamuse does not retain query data beyond the immediate response.

8. Children's Privacy

Refrain is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
